Serpentine Drive
Belt Replacement Service
What is a Serpentine Drive
Belt?
A Serpentine Drive Belt is what the name
implies - a continuous loop belt that snakes its way through and around
your engine compartment to drive power and major engine parts.
What are the benefits of
replacing it?
- Provides worry-free driving, knowing
your vehicle won't be stranded with a broken belt.
- Maintains vehicle warranty requirements.
When does it need to be
replaced?
Generally, the Serpentine Drive Belt should
be replaced whenever it shows signs of extensive wear. Four Cracks per
lineal inch indicate that 85% of the life of the belt has been used.
- If the sides are slick or glazed, it
could slip or may cause overheating.
- If the underside is peeling or missing a
section, it can cause rough operation.
- If there's a greasy build-up, it can
soften or rot the belt.
- If it's cracked or split, it should be
replaced.
Your Grease Monkey technician will check
the resource manual for your vehicles manufacturer's recommended
replacement interval.
